RESIDENTS will be able to get free health checks at borough libraries as part of a new initiative.
The confidential NHS checks are available to people aged between 40 and 74, who haven’t had a recent health check and are registered with a Dudley GP and haven’t already been diagnosed with diabetes, hypertension, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke or kidney disorder.
Heath staff will also be able to make free referrals for slimming and exercise classes, as well as healthy eating and weight management services.
The drop-in sessions will be held at Brierley Hill Library on Thursday November 29 from 10.30am to 2.30pm, Sedgley Library on Tuesday December 4 from 10.30am to 2.30pm and Dudley Library on Thursday December 13 from 10.30am to 2.30pm.
Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, cabinet member for housing, libraries and adult learning, said: “The health check events are a great example of partnership working and I hope people will take advantage of this great opportunity to get themselves checked out.”
