A LEADING first aid charity has brought everyone’s favourite nursery rhyme characters together to show parents what to do if their baby stops breathing.
St John Ambulance’s latest campaign focuses on performing CPR on babies and an online video featuring Jack and Jill, Incy Wincy Spider and Humpty Dumpty includes a memorable rhyme to explain the technique.
Sue Killen, chief executive officer at St John Ambulance, said: “We know that a major barrier to parents learning is that baby CPR frightens them, so we’ve removed the fear factor and made it reassuring and as easy as possible to learn.
“We hope the song will stick in people’s heads. We’re asking everyone to share the video so that all parents, grandparents, and carers can learn what to do in those crucial minutes after a baby has stopped breathing.”
The charity is also holding a baby first aid course at its Dudley base in Vicar Street on February 27.
Running from 10am to 1pm, the course is ideal for parents, parents-to-be and carers and costs £25 plus VAT.
