A CHARITY football tournament in memory of a much-loved young player is being held in Brierley Hill this weekend.
The Olly Wilkes Memorial Football Tournament will take place from 9.30am-4pm at Thorns Collegiate Academy this Saturday (May 19).
The event is being jointly run by Olly’s family – dad Simon, mum Lynn and brother Ben – and his former club Withymoor Colts, in memory of the 22-year-old West Bromwich Albion fan who took his own life last year.
There will be tournaments for adult teams and children’s sides as well as a host of other activities such as a target shootout, tombola, face painting, cake stalls, barbecue and more.
Charities to benefit from the event will include The Olly Wilkes Memorial, PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease) Charity, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and the Iyla Rose Foundation.
There will also be a raffle featuring prizes such as £200 shopping vouchers, a 32’ TV and more.
Representatives from the Anthony Nolan Trust – a charity concerned with blood cancer, a condition Olly’s father Simon suffers from – will also be on hand to recruit potential stem cell donors.
