FIREFIGHTERS across the Black Country were rushed out to a fire at a Dudley scrapyard in the early hours of the morning (Friday, April 29).
The blaze, on Pedmore Road, involved a large amount of scrap material, including metal and rubbish, covering an area of around 30 metres x 20 metres.
Fire crews were alerted to the incident just before 2am.
Four fire engines from Dudley, Brierley Hill, Stourbridge and Haden Cross fire stations were called to the scene. They were joined by three more crews during the night.
By 2.30am the fire had been surrounded and contained.
Firefighters used several jets to extinguish the fire, and on-site staff supported operations by using a mechanical grabber to break up and move burning material.
Thirty firefighters are still in attendance this morning.
