A CAR crashed into a Netherton pub on Friday (May 4).
The driver, a man in his 60s, was taken to Russells Hall Hospital after crashing into The Old Swan.
The front seat passenger, a woman in her 50s, was also taken to hospital after complaining of leg pain.
Tim Newey, licensee at the Halesowen Road pub said he was in bed at the time of the crash, which happened at around 6:50am.
He told the News: “It sounded like beer going down the cellar - I thought the lads had started early but then the fire alarm went off.
“I came downstairs and found the front end of a BMW in the bar.
“We don’t usually start Friday morning’s that way!
“The bay window on the right side as you look at the pub from the street is demolished. If people had of been in the pub, anyone sitting there would have been killed more than likely. Thank God that didn’t happen.”
But despite the big hole in the wall, Mr Newey said the pub, also known as Ma Pardoes, would still open as usual.
