BOOKWORMS can help mark the new location of Netherton Library with an official launch celebration later this month – almost 12 months after the move.
The event will take place on Saturday, February 23 at the Savoy Centre from 10am and will include an appearance by Peppa Pig.
Youngsters can take part in stories and crafts between 10am and 10.45am, while singers from Northfield Road Primary School will also be entertaining visitors.
The Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Melvyn Mottram will officially open the new-look facility at 11.30am ahead of an open rehearsal of Dudley Little Theatre’s forthcoming production of Jane Eyre from 12pm.
The event will conclude with a ukulele group performance at 12.30pm.
Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, cabinet member for housing, libraries and adult learning, said: “Although Netherton Library moved into the Savoy Centre last year we wanted to mark the partnership of these two very important community facilities. This event will give people who have not yet had chance to experience the library’s new home a great opportunity to see the types of activities that take place at Netherton Library and indeed at all our libraries across the borough.”
The library reopened in the Savoy Centre in April 2012 and offers brighter, more modern and welcoming facilities than its previous home at Netherton Arts Centre.
