SWEDISH sisters Johanna and Klara Söderberg are better known as folk duo and world-wide stars First Aid Kit.
Their family heritage may well have helped them find their way to fame, their father was a former member of rock band Lolita Pop and they went to kindergarten with the daughter of one of the members of Swedish electronic duo The Knife.
The sisters became chart toppers after their cover version of Tiger Mountain Peasant Song by Fleet Foxes became an internet hit which opened the door to the international music market.
Their single Emmylou saw the girls attain mainstream radio recognition in the UK with slots on the playlists on Radio 2, 6 Music and Xfm. The single also won praise from influential critics including Edith Bowman and Mary Anne Hobbs.
First Aid Kit were among a host of top names at this summer’s Latitude Festival where The Base Sessions team caught up with them for a backstage chat.
During our exclusive video feature, First Aid Kit lift the lid on their experiences of gigging around the world and about the excitement of travelling to Japan for a tour.
They also share their thoughts on the ups and downs of being sisters in the same band.
