JON Higgins says he has no concerns over Dudley Kingswinford’s pack after their Bromsgrove battering.
The Heathbrook side were swept aside 25-3 in last Saturday’s derby clash at Finstall Park, with the hosts scoring four second-half tries, including three from line-out catch-and-drive moves.
But player-coach Higgins is refusing to lose too much sleep and claims the tough conditions and heavy pitch played right into the home side’s hands.
He said: “Is the pack a concern going forward?
“Possibly not as I doubt we will have to play in conditions as bad as that again.
“It was touch and go whether the game would be on.
“We have shown this season we have fire in the forwards and when the conditions are good they can compete.
“But we rely on technique and the conditions on Saturday made it impossible.
“I have wracked my brains since the game wondering if we could have done anything differently but I don’t think we could have.
“There is no way you can win a game when the opposition have a pack which is totally suited to the conditions.
“We really didn’t play that badly.”
DK have bostered their backline with the addition of winger Donovan Smilie.
The former DK junior has joined from Wolverhampton and made his debut at Bromsgrove, nearly scoring a try in the opening minutes only to be denied by a knock-on.
With no fixture this weekend, Higgins and fellow joint-coach Pete Knight have given the players a week off as they prepare for a busy run up to Christmas.
