THE life of a popular Dudley vicar is set to be remembered at a memorial service at Thomas & St Luke Church.

Revered Tony Attwood, former mayor’s chaplain and priest in charge of the central Dudley ministry, died aged 65 in April.

The service at the High Street church, known in Dudley as Top Church, will be held on Monday June 24 at 1pm and led by the Rev Andrew Wickens and with an address from the Bishop of Dudley.

Rev Wickens said: “Tony died in his sleep while attending a conference in Nottingham a couple of months ago and it has come as a real shock to his family and all who knew him.

"His funeral took place in Leeds earlier in the month, but we wanted to give those who were touched by Tony’s ministry in Dudley an opportunity to remember him.”

Donations in memory of Rev Attwood are being invited for The Iona Community, Christian Aid and the Anglican Diocese of Peru.

Anyone wishing to attend the memorial service is asked to contact the Bishop of Dudley’s Office via email at bishopsofficedudley@cofe-worcester.org.uk
