SPEEDY substitute Phil McArdy struck two second half goals as Black Country Rangers stretched their winning sequence in the West Midlands League to seven games at the expense of local rivals Dudley Town.

It was the Robins who made the early running before snatching the lead with an early second half strike through Dreniz Bala who bagged his sixth league goal of the season from close range following a goalmouth scramble.

Rangers responded when striker Josef Jakob had a shot parried into the path of McArdy who made no mistake from close range, before following up with a second goal five minutes from time.

Robins boss Andy Wyton claimed: "We've only got ourselves to blame for being beaten.

"In the two and a half years since I've been in charge at Dudley Town, we've always come up short against the top sides.

"We've created enough chances and the game is there to be won, but we're not up to scratch when it comes to taking them and this game was no different.

"Even after Black Country went in front, we still had a chance to level matters, but Rion Francis-Mills has put the ball wide from just six yards out".

Dudley Town travel to Herefordshire side Wellington this weekend, while Black Country are without a game, but visit Sporting Khalsa on Tuesday where boss Paul Garner hopes to have prolfic marksman Sam Agar on board.
