Dudley borough residents are being reminded they can sign up to a simple way of getting their council tax bills online.
The council’s e-billing service lets people view their bills when and where they like, helps people cut down on postage costs and mail through their letterbox and is good for the environment.
Over 2,000 residents are already signed up and all residents will receive reminders about the e-billing service when the 2014/15 council tax bills are sent out in March.
Councillor Pete Lowe, cabinet member for finance, said:
“Many people receive bills and correspondence from utility companies and other service providers online so it makes total sense for the council to do the same. We are hoping residents will take the opportunity to benefit from the advantages this improved online service has to offer.”
To register people should simply visit www.dudley.gov.uk/ebilling . More council tax online services can be found at www.dudley.gov.uk/counciltax ,where people can make payments, check what they owe and tell the council about any changes that affect their bill.
In addition to e-billing, people looking for support to get online are encouraged to make the most of the Spring Online campaign. Dudley Council will be supporting the forthcoming national digital inclusion campaign, with research showing around seven million people have never used the internet.
The Spring Online campaign will provide access to computers at libraries, Dudley Council Plus in Dudley town centre and other community locations.
Spring Online takes place from March 31 to April 4 this year and is encouraging councils to help their residents engage with technology, highlighting that 80 per cent of all benefit applications are expected to be online after 2017.
