DUDLEY Kingswinford head coach Shaun Perry has targeted major player recruitment this summer after putting his name in the hat for the club's vacant director of rugby position.
He believes he has learned just what is needed to change DK's fortunes for next season after enduring a disastrous campaign that has all but seen his side relegated from National League Two North.
Dudley Kingswinford extended their run of results to 24 straight defeats this season when losing 36-0 at home to Birmingham and Solihull on Saturday.
Saddled with a yellow card to flanker Matt Squires within just 90 seconds of the kick-off, DK were immediately on the backfoot against a Bees side which still believe they can obtain a top four finish.
With DK down to 14 players, Bees were quick to take advantage, running in two tries from fly half Adam Canning who raced over half the length of the pitch to score, while winger Chris Fensome snapped up a second try on the overlap.
Canning ran even further on the half hour, intercepting a wayward DK pass on his own 22 to race over under the posts.
Right on the stroke of half time, Bees fly half Rod Petty spotted a gap in DKs defence and scampered over by the posts.
Canning converted three of the tries to put Bees out of sight by half time with a 26-0 lead.
DK enjoyed plenty of possession in the second half - but that was helped by the fact Bees were reduced to 13 having flanker Ashley Scriven and No.8 Steve Leach sent to the sin bin.
Despite their numerical advantage, the home side still failed to register a score.
However, coach Perry is more than ready for the challenge of building a new era at the club and confirmed he had applied for the director of rugby position.
"We already have one eye on next season and are continuing to try and get improvement out of our young players and stick to our playing philosophy," said the former England international.
"The main thing we need to do is work hard at recruiting more players to boost our squad in the summer. We already have a good development section and some talented young players, we just need to get some experienced players to compliment that. We want some rough diamonds that we can polish," he added.
A shortlist of names has now been drawn up for interview, with a decision hopefully due before the end of the month.
The interview panel will consist of chairman Ken Crane, club captain Ed Parry and joint head coach Pete Knight. Tony Lanaway and Gordon Bannatyne will sit in on the interviews in an advisory capacity.
DK will now face mid-table side Caldy away on Saturday as they look to end their losing run.
