Residents have a week left to contribute to the future of Dudley town centre.

Staff at Dudley Council are urging local people to give their thoughts on the proposed area action plan, which outlines future development in the town centre from now until 2026.

Consultation opened on March 17 and will close on April 25.

The draft action plan includes plans to build a new food store in the town centre, develop a new 250 space car park on Tower Street and connect the Castle Hill attractions, Castlegate and the town centre.

John Millar, director of urban environment at Dudley Council, said:

“We are keen to know what local people think.  We’d like to have their views on everything from the kind of homes people want, how our open spaces can be improved, and the types of shops and restaurants that people would like.

“Now is the chance to tell us what you want, so that we can consider how to shape Dudley as a place that people continue to be proud of into the future.”

Dudley’s area action plan is underpinned by Dudley Area Development Framework, which was adopted in 2005. The framework is a vision to redevelop nine areas in the town centre which, together with public and civic spaces, will act as the catalyst for the transformation of the town.
