Registrars at Dudley’s stunning Priory Hall are urging people to share their picture perfect memories of stunning Priory Hall on a new photo viewing facility.

Dudley Council, which owns and manages the venue, has set up a Flickr group for people to upload their images or videos of the Grade II-listed building.

Penny Fulford, superintendent registrar at Priory Hall explained:

“With more than 175 years of history, Priory Hall has been the venue for countless events, weddings and ceremonies.  The building has played a special part in so many people’s lives, and we would love it if people’s visual memories of Priory Hall could be shared.

“We are hoping that as many people as possible will upload their photos so that we can show off one of Dudley’s finest locations to the rest of the world.  It doesn’t matter if their photo or video is taken inside or outside of the hall, or whether it’s taken at a ceremony, or just while on a walk in the park, we would be really grateful to everyone who shares their images.”

Overlooked by Dudley Castle, Priory Hall is located in Priory Park, next to priory ruins.

The hall was built in 1825 by the Earl of Dudley as a house for his estate manager.  Priory Hall and park were purchased by Dudley County Borough Council in 1926 to preserve the facilities for local people.

In the Second World War the hall was used by the civil defence.  Telephones and equipment from this time still exist in the cellar.

The hall was transformed into a register office in 1991.
