AN Illegal immigrant led police on a terrifying high speed chase through the centre of Dudley after he was caught drug dealing.
Satnam Singh, aged 41, drove onto the pavement, he went through two sets of traffic lights on red and he forced other drivers to brake or swerve to avoid a collision.
When his car was finally brought to a halt in Parsons Street police found £200 worth of heroin and crack cocaine in the vehicle together with £350 in cash.
Pakistani born Singh was bailed by police but just two weeks later he was caught dealing in drugs for a second time in Grange Park Road, Dudley.
This time he had £120 worth of controlled drugs in his possession, Lynette McClement, prosecuting, told Wolverhampton Crown Court.
Singh of Southall, London admitted four charges of possessing drugs with intent to supply and another of dangerous driving. He was jailed for four-and-a-half years.
Recorder John Edwards told him his driving on the day in question had been “dreadful” and it was serious because at the time children had been leaving school.
The Recorder added: “Other road users had to swerve or brake to avoid colliding during the chase, these matters must be met with a custodial sentence of some significance.”
Robert Perry, for Singh, who was further disqualified from driving for two years said his client was now determined to put his life back onto the tracks.
