Dudley Council has announced that there will be free parking for shoppers this Saturday in Dudley town centre.
Following a request from town centre traders, made at a public meeting last night (May 6), the council has agreed to waive parking charges in Dudley town centre car parks on Saturday May 9.
John Millar, acting strategic director for environment, economy and housing, said:
“At last night’s public meeting, traders reacted to information given to them from the police about this Saturday’s upcoming demonstration and asked the council to back them by providing free parking for shoppers.
“We are very happy to support them as they are the backbone of our community.”
Dudley Council also offers free short stay on-street car parking in all of its town centres.
