COMPLAINTS about parents' parking outside a primary school on a busy main road has prompted new traffic calming measures.
Councillor Chris Neale said residents had raised concerns about 'major issues' with cars parked outside Woodsetton School after he was elected to the Upper Gornal and Woodsetton seat in May.
Despite being a busy main road, there were no railings or bollards outside the school to control parking.
He said; "This has been a long ongoing problem but nothing has been done.
"Issues were highlighted concerning the parking over the double yellow lines and the grassy bank outside of the school."
Cllr Neale contacted the Highways department who carried out a site visit along with the councillor, the school's headteacher and several residents and parents.
"During the visit we were asked by the Highways officer what we would like to have done at the site.
"It was agreed that bollards along the grassy bank outside of the school, along with the yellow zigzag lines and new signage would be the best option."
