POLICE say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the death of a man found dead in Netherton at the weekend – after releasing a 20-year-old previously held on suspicion of murder.
Officers were called to a property in Hockley Lane at around 11.20am on Sunday February 24 following reports from ambulance colleagues that a 48-year-old man had died.
The man has since been named locally as father-of-two Chris Rudkin, pictured.
A neighbour said news of his death came as a "massive shock" and she added: "It's a horrible thing to happen to someone so young."
A spokesman for West Midlands Police initially said the death was being treated as unexplained and officers were keeping an open mind about the circumstances.
Meanwhile - a 20-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has since been released with no further action.
Police say they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death but they are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with it and a spokesman added: “We continue to work closely with the coroner’s office. We believe this to be an isolated incident.”
A post mortem was due to take place yesterday (Monday) but the results have not yet been confirmed.
