A CAMPAIGN has been launched for traffic calming measures to be put in place on an Oldswinford road, after parked cars and garden walls have been damaged by passing traffic.
Brook Road resident Abdul Qadus wants to see speed humps put in place along the street as a traffic calming measure in a bid to make the road safer.
He claims that hundreds of pounds worth of damage has been caused to cars and property on the road as a result of cars speeding past.
Last weekend, his wife's car was the latest to be damaged after a speeding car ploughed into it.
Mr Qadus said: "This Saturday I was woken just after 12am because somebody came speeding and smashed into my wife's car and pushed it about 15 to 20 yards up the road."
"It's a matter of safety. I thank to God there was nobody stood at the bus stop. They would not have had a chance, they would have been seriously injured."
In an earlier incident, Mr Qadus said that a pick up truck smashed a neighbours car into a wall, which was subsequently damaged.
Commenting on his commitment to the cause, he said: "If I have to sit in the street to back it I will do it. It's everybody's safety, my children and everybody's children."
