A HISTORIC former lodge house in Wordsley that was part of a 200-year-old manor is to go under the hammer next week.

The grade II listed Main Lodge based at the gateway of the former Lawnswood House estate will be showcased at auction with a guide price of £125,000.

The two-bedroomed house is up for grabs at Bond Wolfe Auctions’ next auction at Villa Park in Birmingham on Wednesday July 3.

Gurpreet Bassi, chief executive of Bond Wolfe Auctions, said: “This is a lovely little house and with such a competitive starting price it is likely to be very popular with a wide range of bidders.

“It was built in 1839 in a matching style to the main house and comes with a hexagonal cellar, a ground floor sitting room with open fireplace, a dining room and kitchen, with two bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor.

“As well as those looking for a historic renovation project to turn into a dream home, it provides a rare opportunity for developers with imagination and style.

“In addition, there is land at the rear of the lodge that may be available at a later date by way of separate negotiation.”

Mr Bassi added: “It is, without doubt, one of the most interesting lots for sale at the auction and we expect considerable interest.”
