DUDLEY Zoo is on the lookout for someone to 'do the locomotion' as it prepares for a busy summer season.
The Castle Hill tourist attraction is recruiting a driver for its diesel land train, which transport visitors from its entrance around the 40-acre site, passing rare animals including flamingos, spider monkeys and meerkats on the way.
Applicants must have a full clean driving licence and at least three years' driving experience.
Relevant train driving training will be given and candidates must be available to work weekends, weekdays and bank holidays as and when required.
Zoo manager, Matt Lewis, said: “We’ve had a land train on site for more than 30 years and it’s been a welcome relief to thousands of visitors, especially families with buggies and young children and the train and driver become quite a photo opportunity!”
“Due to Covid restrictions we’ve been unable to run the service for a long while, but with the forthcoming easing of restrictions we’re hoping it won’t be too much longer.”
The red and white locomotive used to transport holidaymakers across the seafront in Alicante, before it was relocated to Dudley in 2017.
