AN 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder in Brierley Hill this weekend after a teenager was stabbed to death in London.

The teen was was arrested at an address in Brierley Hill yesterday (Saturday July 3) by detectives from the Met police force and was taken to a local police station.

The shocking arrest was in connection with the stabbing of a 16-year-old boy at a property in Bracken Avenue, Croydon, at 12.46am on Thursday, July 1.

The 16-year-old was found inside with stab wounds - paramedics and the London Air Ambulance could not save the boy - who was pronounced dead at the scene less than an hour later.

The Brierley Hill arrest is the second the Metropolitan Police force has made in connection with the boy's death.

A 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in East Sussex on Friday, July 2.

He is in custody at a south London police station.

The force said detectives were keeping "an open mind concerning motive" and were awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination.

Det Chief Insp Dave Blair, of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said: “Our investigation is gathering pace but though we have made our second arrest, we still want to hear from anyone who has information relating to this horrific loss of a young life.

“If you know anything, no matter how small it may seem, please do the right thing and get in touch.”
