A TEENAGER arrested in Brierley Hill at the weekend has been charged with the murder of a 16-year-old boy.

Romain La Pierre, aged 18, who was arrested at an address in Brierley Hill on Saturday (July 3) has been charged with murdering Camron Smith in Croydon, London.

The 16-year-old was stabbed to death on Thursday July 1.

La Pierre, of Amber Grove, Cricklewood, London, was remanded in police custody and was due to appear at Bromley Magistrates Court today (Tuesday July 6).

A second person, a 15-year-old boy, who was arrested in East Sussex on Friday July 2, has also been charged with the murder and was also due to appear at Bromley Magistrates' Court today.

They were both also charged with robbery.

Police were called to Bracken Avenue in Shrublands, Croydon in the early hours of Thursday, 1 July.

Officers attended with London Ambulance Service paramedics. They found a 16-year-old boy who had been stabbed. He was treated at the scene but despite the best efforts of the emergency services, he was pronounced dead a short time later.

He has been identified as Camron Smith from Shrublands, Croydon. His family is being supported by specialist officers.

On Monday, 5 July, detectives charged two people with Camron’s murder and with an additional charge of robbery.

Detectives continue to investigate Camron’s murder and would like to hear from anyone who has information but has not yet come forward.
