Parts of the country are due to see heavy wind and rain as September in the UK looks to be “unsettled,” forecasters say.

The Met Office has put this down to an area of low pressure set to move in from Sunday, combined with the effects of “increased tropical storm activity” in the US.

But what does this look like in Birmingham?

The West Midlands weather forecast for Friday 3 to Tuesday 7 September looks to be similar to the weather there recently with dry and sunny spells. Some light drizzle is also likely.

It’s predicted that Birmingham will have warm days coming up with temperatures reaching up to 26 degrees next week.

What does it look like in the Black Country?

The Black Country is also expected to see dry and sunny spells with some drizzle between Friday 3 to Tuesday 7 September and the rest of the week.

Looking at the weeks forecast we found that in Halesowen and Stourbridge temperatures up to 26 degrees are expected in the coming days with Wednesday set to be the day it reaches it.

Dudley however looks to be slightly cooler on Wednesday with a temperature of 25 degrees.

What does the UK long weather forecast say?

In the Met Office’s UK long weather forecast Tuesday 7 to Thursday 16 September, the forecaster said: “Conditions are expected to become less settled through this period, though confidence is low at this time. Showers or longer spells of rain are likely, the focus of these perhaps across western areas, while some parts of the east may well hang on to largely dry conditions for much of this period.”

It added: “It will also be windy at times, this particularly so around some southern and western coasts and over the hills. There is the potential for some of the rain to be heavy at times, with the risk of some thunderstorms mixed in. Temperatures are likely to trend warmer than average across all parts, perhaps becoming very warm at times across sunnier parts of the east.”

Alex Burkill, a Met Office forecaster, told the PA news agency: “It’s fair to say the beginning of the month will be rather settled, with high pressure dominating.

“There will be drizzle and cloud in the east this week, but in the west certain regions will certainly hit the low 20s and see glimpses of sunshine here and there.

“However, this could perhaps be the last of the summery weather until the end of September, with a prolonged spell of unsettled conditions and low pressure from Sunday.”
