DUDLEY’S new multi-million-pound leisure centre has finally opened its doors to the public this morning (Monday, January 24).
Located on Constitution Hill in Dudley the £18.2 million Duncan Edwards Leisure Centre replaces the former centre in Wellington Road which closed on Sunday, January 16.
Simon Phipps, cabinet member for regeneration and enterprise said residents living near the former centre “have been reassured the site will have 24-hour on-site security while its being decommissioned” and “any development will be communicated when available”.
The new centre includes a 25-metre, eight-lane swimming pool, a teaching pool with spectator area, sauna, showers and changing rooms.
Visitors can expect a gym and fitness suite, two group exercise studios, power assisted gym equipment, and an immersive cycle studio.
Families can also enjoy a huge soft play area for the children, complete with a party room and café.
Cllr Phipps added: “The facilities it boasts are second to none and I am sure new and existing visitors to our leisure centres will be overwhelmed with what we have to offer.”
Members of the public can either sign up for a membership, which start from £27 or use the ‘pay and play’ option, which is a no contract pay as you go service.
There are several pay and display car parks close to Duncan Edwards Leisure Centre which allow two hour free parking.
It will be open Monday to Friday from 6:30am to 10pm and Saturday to Sunday from 7am to 6pm.
