A PROPERTY that had become a hotbed of anti-social behaviour in Upper Gornal has been boarded up by police and the council.

Dudley North Police, working with Dudley Council, secured a closure order for three months for the address in Pale Street where a tenant had been making the lives of neighbours a misery.

Police took to Twitter on Monday (February 7) to highlight the news, saying the order was secured after "sustained anti-social behaviour" which had caused distress to local residents.

The order means the property will be closed for three months - with the tenant, plus relatives and visitors, unable to live in or visit during that period.

Former councillor Keiran Casey welcomed the news, saying: "Great to see definitive action now taken by the police and Dudley Council to sort this particular property out in Pale Street given the issues this was causing to tenants.

"This is something that the Oval and Tudor TRA have been working on with our local councillors, police and ASB team."

Councillor Laura Taylor-Childs, Dudley Council's cabinet member for housing and community services, said: “This is another fantastic result for us through the courts and I hope this closure order will give residents in the area some much-needed respite from the misery this tenant and his associates was causing.

“Working with the police, we will not hesitate to take action against this kind of behaviour, it will not be tolerated in our properties and our borough. We’ll now look to take the necessary tenant enforcement action."
