AS temperatures soar to their highest this year, Dudley Zoo and Castle is launching a summer search for Santa!

The attraction is looking to bring back Father Christmas in his grotto inside the 11th century Dudley Castle for this year’s festive season, after a two-year absence due to Covid, and they’re now on the lookout for someone to wear the famous red suit.

Zoo marketing manager Andrea Hales said: “We’re delighted to be able to bring our Santa’s grotto back to DZC again this year.

“It attracts thousands of excited young visitors in the run-up to Christmas, so we need a jolly Santa who can spread lots of festive cheer throughout December.”

Santa will be required to work alongside a team of elves to deliver a magical experience for children and their families.

Interested applicants should apply with a CV by emailing admin@dudleyzoo.org.uk or it can be posted to Marketing Department, Dudley Zoo and Castle, Castle Hill, Dudley DY1 4QF.

The closing date for applications is Wednesday August 31.

The zoo’s media and communications officer, Rachel Hickman, said: “Icy cold water from the zoo’s underground well is used to keep water bowls topped up throughout the day, while certain species such as our Brazilian tapirs and reindeer - who are currently undergoing their annual moult, are smothered in high factor sun cream to protect them from the sun’s rays.
