DUDLEY Council will be closing some of its services during the upcoming Bank holiday for the Queen’s funeral.
A national bank holiday has been announced for Monday, September 19 to coincide with the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
Some council services will be closed on this date as a mark of respect to Her Majesty.
Refuse, recycling, and green waste collections will take place on Tuesday instead of Monday with all rounds for the week pushed back a day.
Dudley Council will be collecting Friday’s usual runs on Saturday to ensure all waste and recycling are collected by the end of the week.
All of our borough leisure centres, The Dell Stadium, Red House Glass Cone, Dudley Museum, Dudley Archives, Dudley Borough Halls and Himley Hall will be closed on Monday. Himley Park will remain open.
All libraries in Dudley borough will also be closed.
Dudley Council Plus will be closed on Monday, although the out-of-hours team can be contacted in case of emergencies.
Due to site closures, books of condolence will be unavailable on Monday. Residents can leave written tributes to Her Majesty until Tuesday at 5pm.
Councillor Rob Clinton, cabinet member for waste management, said: “We are all deeply saddened by the death of our Queen and it is only right we spend Monday reflecting on her life on the day of her funeral.
“Like many other council services, refuse, recycling and green waste collections will be affected by this national Bank Holiday and day of mourning.
“Collections will not take place on Monday with all rounds put back a day.
“We will aim to collect on Saturday to ensure all waste and recycling is collected by the end of the week.”
