A CELEBRATORY recital will be held this weekend to highlight the ongoing restoration of the historic organ at St John’s Church in Dudley.
The St John's Church Preservation Group is hosting the informal recital at the church in St John’s Road, Kates Hill, from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday October 22.
Tim Lees and Jacob Fletcher, with help from organ expert Ross Daly, have carried out considerable extra restoration on the St John's 1886 Peter Conacher organ over the past this year.
To showcase the work and improvements made – people are invited gather round the organ and watch renowned organist Tim play pieces that best exemplify its rich sound.
Warm drinks and food will be available at the event and there’ll be a chance to chat to Tim about the organ in between pieces.
The preservation group will also be collecting people’s favourite hymns for a Songs of Praise event in the future.
