DUDLEY South MP Mike Wood has been showing off the winning design in his Christmas card competition to the Prime Minister.
Mr Wood met with Rishi Sunak to showcase the winning picture designed by year 3 Brockmoor Primary School student Haniyah Razzaq.
Almost 900 children entered the MP’s annual competition which also saw seven runners-up selected.
Mr Wood said: “Each year I am blown away by the fantastic entries that come in from children at schools right across Dudley South – and I want to give a big thank you to each and every talented young artist who submitted an entry this year.
“As always, picking a winner and runners-up was tough – but Haniyah’s nativity scene entry captured the Christmas message so brilliantly, that it just had to be the winner; and the other seven runners-up were each such great efforts, that they had to be on this year’s runners-up list.”
The runners-up were:
Maddison Evans-Baker, year 6, Netherton C of E Primary School;
Enya Edwards, year 2, St Mary's CE Primary School;
Isabella Davies, year 6, Ashwood Park Primary School;
Eden Kelly, year 6, Fairhaven Primary School;
Amelia McGrory, year 3, Belle Vue Primary School;
Clara Kennedy, year 3, Brierley Hill Primary School;
Megan Simkins, year 6, Brook Primary School.
The MP’s Christmas card featuring the winning and runner-up designs will go out to headteachers, community figures, other MPs and hundreds of local people and for the first time it will also be delivered to the new Monarch - King Charles III.
As well as having their artwork on the card, the prizewinners will also receive a gift card, sponsored by Merry Hill, and a family pass to either Dudley Zoo & Castle, Black Country Living Museum or Cadbury World. One runner-up will receive a glass fusing session at Red House Glass Cone.
