A ROAD closure order is expected to be in place in Brierley Hill High Street for two days while work to fix a water leak takes place.
Dudley's highways chiefs have today (Tuesday) issued a notice advising that the High Street has been closed under an emergency order while South Staffs Water undertake repairs outside Mecca Bingo.
The closure is between between Ventura Way and Mill Street.
An advisory issued by the council's traffic department said: "Please be aware that High Street, Brierley Hill, is currently closed under an emergency order as South Staffordshire Water are repairing a water leak under an “immediate” permit.
"Works commenced today (December 6) and are scheduled to be in progress until December 8.
"A signed diversion will be in place."
Nathan Harper, head of network operations at South Staffs Water, said: “We became aware of a leak in Brierley Hill High Street yesterday morning and it was necessary to close the road while we carried out the repair. We completed the repair yesterday and the road will be reinstated tomorrow morning so that the road can be reopened tomorrow night.
"I would like to thank residents, businesses and motorists for their patience, while we worked to repair the main.”
