A DUDLEY nursey will remain closed until at least March as police continue to investigate the death of a one-year-old baby.

Ofsted has confirmed Fairytales Day Nursery will not reopen until at least March after a baby boy died on December 9.

Emergency services rushed to the nursery on Bourne Street but despite best efforts he died at the scene.

West Midlands Police are treating the death as suspicious and have arrested six women in connection with the incident but have since been released on bail.

A spokesperson for Ofsted said: “We can confirm that we recently wrote to parents about this nursery following an extension of its suspension.

“This is due to the ongoing investigation into this provider following the tragic death of a young child.

“We are also considering the provider’s suitability to remain registered with Ofsted.”

The nursery opened in 2003 and cares for children from as young as three months.
