A NEW Indian sports bar and grill has opened in Gornal Wood.
The former Bulls Head on Himley Road has been transformed into Tapri Bar and Grill.
The family-friendly sports bar serving authentic North Indian cuisine and a large selection of drinks opened in January.
The new venue boasts several TV screens and one huge projector screen, so there will be plenty of matches for guests to choose from while they enjoy a curry.
Owners, Raj Patel and Jas Singh launched their first Tapri Bar and Grill in Sutton Coldfield towards the end of the first Covid 19 lockdown in 2021.
Raj, who is from Wolverhampton, said: “Our Sutton Coldfield restaurant is doing very well so we thought it was time to spread the love and pop up somewhere closer to home."
Jas said: “We have a live kitchen, so our customers can see our talented chefs in action.
"We are serving traditional Punjabi food - mixed grills, chicken tikka, lamb chops, seekh kebabs, lamb shank curry, as well as plenty of vegetarian options like lasooni paneer, saag and aloo gobi. "There is something for everyone.”
Veterans in the food and hospitality industry, Raj and Jas also own a number of coffee shops in Wolverhampton and Kettering, as well as pizza shops in Walsall and Coventry.
The pair enlisted Wolverhampton-based Interior Design firm, Ivy Seven Designs, to help transform the old pub.
The new-look venue is now a stylish, modern bar and grill with room for 80 diners downstairs.
Upstairs, the old ‘Assembly Room’ has transformed into a function room available for hire for up to 40 people.
Tapri Bar and Grill is open from 4pm to 11pm on Monday to Friday, 12pm to 11pm on Saturdays, and 12pm to 9.30pm on Sundays.
