A BLACK Country park welcomed residents over the weekend to watch a live screening of King Charles III’s coronation.
People braved the rain to watch the historic occasion with family and friends on the Himley Hall and Park grounds.
Families were also able to take part in a coronation themed trail around the park and pick up treats from the Himley Hall Coffee Lounge.
The Mayor of Dudley, Sue Greenaway, said: “The weather may have let us down, but it certainly didn’t dampen the spirits of all those who came together to watch the coronation of King Charles III live on the big screen.
“It was wonderful to see people celebrate in the grounds of the historic park, which has its own Royal connections, having once hosted members of the Royal family.
“I hope everyone continues to enjoy the rest of the weekend’s celebrations, particularly those hosting street parties across the borough.”
Kay Cross, who lives in Wordsley, said: “We were determined to come today despite the weather, and we have loved every minute.
“It’s fantastic as we had front row seats.”
Dudley Council House and buildings at Dudley Zoo and Castle were also lit up in red, white, and blue over the weekend to commemorate the occasion.
