DUDLEY Conservative councillor Wayne Sullivan has resigned from his post, it has been confirmed.
Councillor Sullivan, who represented St James’s ward, reportedly stood down from his role on Dudley Council on July 12.
His departure, after just two years in post, is believed to be due to personal reasons and leaves a vacant seat in St James’s ward – with a by-election now expected to be held in late August or early September.
Councillor Patrick Harley, leader of Dudley Council and Dudley Conservative Group, said it was “a shame” to lose Cllr Sullivan’s service.
Dudley Council said details of the by-election would be announced in due course.
A by-election is also set to take place in the Cradley and Wollescote ward, on August 3, following the sudden death of Labour councillor Richard Body who passed away unexpectedly on May 9, just days after holding onto his seat in the May 4 local election.
