DUDLEY Zoo and Castle has confirmed the attraction’s new lion has been settling in well.
Kesharia, a young male Asiatic lion, arrived at the zoo from Edinburgh Zoo a couple of weeks ago in July.
The three-year-old lion has reportedly been settling in well – although keepers have temporarily closed off a pathway alongside the lion paddock while he gets used to his new surroundings.
A spokesperson for the zoo said on Facebook: “Our male Asiatic lion is settling in well to his new home.
“The Snail Trail pathway alongside Lion Ridge is temporarily closed to visitors, as Keshari explores the paddock in his own time – apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.”
Zoo bosses said Kesharia had been kept apart from resident Asian lioness Asha initially but, following positive interactions between the two through the paddock mesh, the pair were recently introduced to each other and “it couldn’t have gone better”.
