A SIX-year-old Kingswinford primary school pupil is living his ice hockey dream and looking forward to furthering his skills with the England National Goalie Development Programme later this month.
Brierley Hill youngster Noah Potter, who attends The Dingle Community Primary School in Kingswinford, will be travelling to Sheffield on Monday August 28 to take part in the programme.
Noah represents Telford Jubior Ice Hockey Club at u10s level and regularly travels across the UK to represent his club, and to further his development he spends a few days each month with Dave Clancy, of Clancy's Goalie Clinic, at Deeside in Wales.
Noah’s proud dad Dan Potter said: “Both Noah and his brother started to play hockey around September 2022 where they joined the Learn 2 Play Programme at Telford Ice Rink which is run by Tigers head coach Tom Watkins.
“Noah started playing out but it quickly became apparent that his love was to play In between the pipes, he was lucky enough to get selected for the Bauer Netminder Programme and was loaned kit to try the position safely.
“As a parent nothing makes you more proud than watching your children do something they really enjoy. In the short period of time Noah has been playing he has made great strides and we put this down to the coaching and support he has received.
“As a family it’s a huge commitment to make and we have to thank the generosity of a number of companies for offering financial support to Noah to make this possible - Anchor Logistics, Lyndon Roofing Company, Britsafe Security, Toxic Hockey UK.
“Ice hockey in the UK is very much an underrepresented sport and commands a lot of commitment from both player and parent, it's great to see Noah doing so well and enjoying himself playing the sport he loves.”
