Dudley South MP Mike Wood is to represent the newly-formed Kingswinford & South Staffordshire constituency as the Conservative candidate following parliamentary boundary changes by the Boundary Commission for England.
Mr Wood's existing Dudley South seat will be dissolved, with wards being split three ways - Brockmoor & Pensnett will become part of the new Dudley seat, Brierley Hill and Netherton, Woodside & St Andrews going into Stourbridge, and Kingswinford North & Wall Heath, Kingswinford South and Wordsley forming the new Kingswinford & South Staffordshire constituency.
In a statement, Mr Wood expressed his gratitude to the new constituency members and his hopes that they would once again place their trust in him.
He pledged to continue representing Dudley South to the best of his ability until the next general election.
In welcoming Mr Wood, Robert Reade, President of South Staffordshire Conservative Association, noted his early activity and involvement around the new constituency since his selection by members.
Patrick Harley, councillor for Kingswinford South and leader of Dudley Council, praised Mr Wood's proven track record as a constituency MP and his role in bringing investments to the borough and Dudley South in particular.
Meanwhile, Sir Gavin Williamson, the current MP for South Staffordshire, has been selected to represent the newly-formed Stone, Penkridge & Great Wyrley constituency, encapsulating the northern part of the South Staffordshire District.
The new Kingswinford & South Staffordshire constituency will include 13 regions including Bilbrook; Codsall and Wordsley, amongst others.
Despite the boundary revisions, council services will remain unaffected as they will continue to be delivered by the existing authority.
The boundary review was limited merely to constituency boundaries.
