A FIRE broke out at a house in Lower Gornal with emergency services called to the scene.

The fire started in the kitchen of a home on Wood Road at around 5.05pm last night (Tuesday November 14).

Two people who had escaped the property before firefighters arrived were checked over by paramedics but did not require treatment.

Firefighters from Dudley, Bilston and Brierley Hill stations fought the flames - with the next door home smoke logged.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Fire Service said: "This was a kitchen fire in a two-storey semi-detached house.

"Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels to extinguish the fire.

"Two people had left the property before our arrival. They were checked over by paramedics at the scene but required no further treatment.

"The property next door was heavily smoke-logged but was ventilated by firefighters.

"It wasn't affected by fire.

"We left the scene at 9.19pm. Crews revisited the property to check for hotspots but none were found."
