A WOMAN in her 70s has been rushed to hospital after a two-car crash this morning (Thursday, November 23).

A car rolled over and landed on its wheels after the smash at the junction of Wolverhampton Road and Lawnswood at Prestwood, near Stourton.

The road was closed in both directions whilst emergency services dealt with the incident.

West Midlands Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that two casualties were assessed by West Midlands Ambulance Service.

They said a woman in her 70s was helped out of a vehicle by a passer-by and is believed to have been taken to Russells Hall Hospital.

A woman in her 20s managed to get out of a vehicle and is believed to have been advised to get checked over at hospital.

Fire crews from Stourbridge and Brierley Hill attended the collision. They were called just after 7.50am. 

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "An ambulance and paramedic officer were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews discovered two cars had been involved in a collision.

"The driver of the first car, a woman, was treated for injuries not believed to be serious and taken to Russells Hall Hospital for further treatment.

"The driver of the second car, also a woman, was treated for injuries not believed to be serious but did not wish to be conveyed to hospital and so was given self-care advice and discharged at the scene".
