ROAD closures will be in place in Kingswinford this Sunday (December 3) as the town hosts a Christmas lights switch on event.
Market Street and Summer Street will be closed to traffic between 1pm to 9pm.
Market Street will be closed from Summer Hill to Manor Park; and Summer Street will be closed from the junction of Market Street to the rear of 20 Market Street.
Traffic will be diverted via Summer Hill, Cot Lane, Lawnswood Road, High Street, Stream Road and vice versa; Cross Street, Oak Street, Market Street and vice versa; High Street, Standhills Road, The Portway, Stream Road and vice versa; High Street, Manor Park, Market Street and vice versa.
The lights switch on, organised by the Kingswinford Community Centre in partnership with Kenchington LTD and Shaz Saleem from One Community, will run from 3pm to 7pm – with the Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Andrea Goddard, joining Santa for the switch on at 5.30pm.
The event, which will raise money for Blood UK and Ravens Rescue UK based in Kingswinford, will include a packed afternoon of activities and performances.
There will also be a Something Special Christmas Tree Trail, with entry forms available from Something Special; Santa will be in his grotto at Dudley Building Society; and children’s craft activities will be on offer at Wetherspoons.
Event co-organiser Shaz Saleem said: “The evening is set to be a special one, we have live entertainment, we have rides, stalls and food and drink. We also have a special announcement that we will be making on the night.”
