A FIRE was started in Kingswinford woods in what is believed to be an arson attack.
Firefighters were called to Ridgehill Woods on Lodge Lane at around 11.20pm last night (Sunday December 10).
They found a JCB digger on fire at the scene, near the Summerhill school.
Police have been informed of the incident which is believed to be arson.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Fire Service said: "A 4x4 brigade response vehicle from Wolverhampton responded to Lodge Lane, Kingswinford.
"Firefighters arrived to find a JCB vehicle on fire.
"It is believed this fire was started deliberately.
"The police were informed of the incident and we left the scene at 1.08am."
Someone said on the Friends of Ridgehill Woods and Surrounding Green Belt Facebook page: "Woods are on fire.
"Quite a big one.
"Several big bangs."
