Officers are set to enforce stop and search powers across the West Midlands tomorrow ahead of the Black Country derby.
West Midlands Police will be using Section 60 stop and search powers across the whole of Dudley, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Sandwell and Handsworth between 7am and 11pm tomorrow (Sunday, January 28).
This is in the aim of ensuring the fourth round FA Cup tie between West Bromwich Albion and Wolves is an enjoyable and safe day for everyone attending the game.
The powers mean officers can stop and search people for weapons and insist face coverings are removed without needing to explain why.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “There will be large numbers of supporters travelling from across the Black Country and further afield to The Hawthorns and we are working with both clubs to make sure this happens smoothly and with as little disruption as possible to transport, pubs and bars, and local residents.”
