INDEPENDENT crafting studios and small businesses at Wordsley’s Red House Glass Cone are inviting visitors to see what they have to offer at an open day on Saturday February 10.
Studios will open from 11am till 4pm across the site as part of the open day – organised by business owners, with help from Brierley Hill and Wordsley South councillors Adam Davies and Wayne Little.
Cllr Davies said: “Everyone knows the cone, but for those who haven’t been on-site before they might not know about the fantastic hub of small businesses and crafting studios that are based here all year round.
“That’s why we’re working with Carly and the other businesses to organise this open day – inviting people from near and far to come along and see what’s on offer.”
Carly Grandini-Williams, general manager at Saz’s Ceramics & Crafts, said: “It is going to be a great opportunity for family and friends to come along to the cone and see all the incredible skills of our independent artists, and have a go at an activity too.”
Saz’s Ceramics & Crafts will hold a pop-up ‘make and take’ experience and a clay hand building demonstration.
Tandem Crafts will host story time and craft time sessions.
Glass Quarter Designs have a suncatcher workshop, and I Luv Pebbles is running ‘paint a pet pebble’ classes for kids.
Kirk Andrews Art will be showcasing work in the courtyard, and Blowfish Glass is hosting interactive glassblowing experiences making glass fruit, which can be pre-booked on the company website.
Cllr Little added: “These small businesses are all still open while the improvement works at the cone take place – so we hope lots of people will come along and support the event.”
The museum and visitor centre shop are open seven days a week and are free to visit.
Visitors are invited to bring picnics to enjoy by the canalside or in the courtyard.
