A BROCKMOOR man has been hit with a court bill of nearly £350 after causing alarm or distress through racially or religiously aggravated behaviour.
Tyrone Moran, of Fens Crescent, admitted causing harassment, alarm or distress by using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards a person on July 1, in 2023, in an incident in West Bromwich, Sandwell.
The 43-year-old was fined £140 after pleading guilty to the offence under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998.
He was also ordered to pay £100 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service, plus £50 in compensation and a £56 victim surcharge when he was sentenced at Dudley Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday February 27.
Court documents said the defendant’s guilty plea was taken into consideration but the fine was uplifted from £120 to £140 due to the racially aggravated nature of the offence.
In total he must pay £346 by March 26.
