A motorcyclist has sustained serious injuries after a collision with a car in Dudley last night. 

West Midlands Ambulance Service said they were called at around 4.31pm yesterday (Tuesday, June 25) to a road traffic collision involving a car and a motorbike at the junction of Corncrake Road and Milking Bank in Gornal. 

Two ambulances, a paramedic officer, the WMAS critical care car, a MERIT trauma doctor and a critical care paramedic attended the scene along with West Midlands Police. 

Officers closed the road with the ambulance crews finding two patients at the scene who were the driver of the car and the motorcyclist. 

The motorcyclist was assessed and had sustained serious injuries. He received advanced trauma care at the scene before being taken to hospital for further treatment. 

The driver of the car had sustained injuries not believed to be serious. 

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 4.31pm to a road traffic collision involving a car and a motorbike at the junction of Corncrake Road and Milking Bank in Gornal, Dudley.

"Two ambulances, a paramedic officer, the WMAS Critical Care Car and a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic attended the scene. Upon arrival, we found two patients who were the driver of the car and the motorcyclist.

"The motorcyclist was assessed and had sustained serious injuries. He received advanced trauma care at the scene before being conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment.

"The driver of the car had sustained injuries not believed to be serious. She received treatment at the scene before being conveyed to Russells Hall Hospital for further treatment."

Corncrake Road was blocked off at the junction with Milking Bank with many eyewitnesses and police urging people to avoid the area.
