Black Country Healthcare has reopened its popular work experience programme for young people looking to pursue a career in the NHS.

The scheme, aimed at inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals, offers secondary school pupils the chance to learn more about the variety of NHS careers.

The programme, which runs periodically throughout the year, consists of a two-day classroom-based event.

Here, an expert panel shares their career journeys and advice, and the educational group, Medical Mavericks, holds interactive workshops for the participants.

Julie Morgan, learning and development partner at Black Country Healthcare, said: "This July the NHS marked its 76th anniversary and was a chance for us to look forward to the future of the organisation, which will be built by the next generation of committed NHS staff.

"The work experience programme at Black Country Healthcare is a great way for young people to find out more about embarking on a career in the NHS and be part of building the NHS of the future."

The last event in February saw 23 young people get inspired and take their first step in their NHS journey.

The next events are scheduled for August 20-21 at Walsall College, Wisemore Campus and October 29-30 at Black Country and Marches Institute of Technology in Dudley.

To apply, individuals should request an application form by emailing bchft.workexperience@nhs.net.

Applications for the scheme, open to 13-17 year olds, are now open.
