THE fire service has said a large fire that broke out at a Brierley Hill industrial site was believed to have been started deliberately.
Firefighters were called to the Premier Trading Estate at Brockmoor just before 8.30pm on Friday August 9.
A total of 18 firefighters were deployed to the scene but they managed to put out the flames and leave within an hour.
An engine from Brierley Hill plus the 4x4 brigade response vehicle were called out along with a fire engine from Stourbridge and one from Haden Cross.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Fire Service said: “We were called just before 8.26pm to the Premier Industrial Estate in Brockmoor. We sent three fire engines and the 4x4 brigade response vehicle.
“The incident involved a large amount of timber and waste but was not affecting any buildings.
"It involved approximately 20 tonnes of wood on fire. It looks as if someone has intentionally set fire to it.”
Crews left the scene at around 9.30pm.
