Council contractors are working around the clock to tackle potholes on roads across the borough.

A “night time blitz” took place during August, with more than 1,000 square metres of road repaired over a three-week period during the evening.

The blitz took place alongside regular daytime works.

It comes after a successful pilot in April and May where more than 1,100 square metres of road was fixed during the night.

Roads repaired at night in August were:

Vicar Street and Gospel End Street, Sedgley.

Sedgley Road East, Manor Lane, and Carters Lane, Halesowen.

The Broadway and The Parade, Dudley.

The Boulevard and Waterfront islands, Brierley Hill.

Councillor Damian Corfield, cabinet member for highways and environmental services, said: “We get hundreds of calls every month about potholes, so we know how important it is to our residents that we get them sorted out.

“We have daytime works taking place daily repairing potholes and roads in the borough.

“The night time blitz works tackle larger areas or traffic-sensitive locations that would ordinarily be more difficult to work on during the day without causing congestion.

“The work this month comes after a very successful pilot in April and May where we repaired more than 1,100 square metres on six principal roads across the borough.

“We are delighted to have achieved a similar result this time around.”

Roads repaired in April and May were:

Duncan Edwards Way; Cinder Bank in Netherton.

Haden Hill Road and Hagley Road in Halesowen.

Norton Road in Norton.

Boulevard and Level Street in Brierley Hill.
