A MAN who suffered serious injuries in a Quarry Bank crash remains in hospital today (Tuesday September 10), police said.

The 46-year-old man was injured when a car collided with a stationary lorry and crashed into a shop on Quarry Bank High Street at the junction of Sheffield Street in the early hours of yesterday (Monday September 9).

A 52-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and taken into police custody.

She has since been released while enquiries are ongoing. 

The man was taken to hospital in a serious condition.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said today: "The man remains in hospital with serious injuries."

They added: “Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to get in touch via Live Chat on our website quoting log 48 of September 9.”

The incident left the High Street closed in both directions for most of yesterday (Monday).

The fire service said the incident involved a car which had collided with a stationary, unoccupied HGV and that the car had come to rest touching a shop.
